How to Update to Windows 11

Windows 11 is the latest major release of Microsoft's Windows NT operating system, released on October 5, 2021 as the successor to Windows 10 (2015). It is provided free for any Windows 10 devices that meet the new Windows 11 system requirements.

How to Update your Operating System from Windows 10 to Windows 11

1. Seach for “Windows Update” or “Check for updates” in the Windows Search Bar.



2. If prompt to update to Windows 11 appears, click “Download and install”. If not, you may need to install other components of Windows 10 first. Click “Check for updates” if this is the case for your workstation.



3. Wait for progress to reach 100%. You may work while this is running in background. Time to finish may vary. Please do not shut down or put your workstation to sleep while this is downloading.


4. Once the download is finished, you will be prompted to restart your workstation. Look for the prompt in Windows Update menu or from a notification pop-up in your taskbar.





5. Save your work, then click “Restart Now” to start updating. Please keep your workstation plugged in/charging and do not shut down while updating.

6. To check if the update is successful. After logging in, you can search “About your PC” in the Windows Search bar. Then scroll down to the “Windows Specifications”. “Windows 11 Pro” should be displayed in “Edition”.



7. You have finished updating your operating system to Windows 11.
